Azzurro Wheels goes with Carson PR

Publicity in Orange County doesn’t really get as much recognition for those pr agencies, pr clients as it should. For example, we recently were awarded the complete publicity, marketing and advertising for Azzurro Wheels based in St Charles, Illinois. The company, not being a major consumer product, makes Publicity in Orange County for our company limited to only pr clients that are national in the sense of name recognition, not national in scope.

The new client, which sells to the go-kart industry, manufactures different racing wheels for indoor and outside tracks for go-karts. Not a big impact for the general awareness, but big enough in the karting industry.

go-kart wheel manufacturerWe began the campaign by developing a theme “Simply The Finest. Period.” with a new fractional page ad. This is being enhanced with a web marketing plan to get more customers to visit the web site. We also created the company’s web site. In addition, we will be doing press releases, publicity press kits, negotiate pr articles, and will be responsible for all the marketing and advertising materials for the company.

When someone mentions the words “Publicity in Orange County” you think of only a few companies. That’s even true with Ad Agencies. Why? Those few get press becasue they may work with a larger, nationally known branded company.  Yet, many successful publicity and advertising agencies are in Orange County. There are different organizations and clubs that pr clients, pr agencies, and ad agencies can join. One for example is the OC Ad Club. Another, for those in publicity in Orange County you can join the Orange County Public Relations Society of America (OCPRSA).

Business Marketing and PR Marketing Strategies

Different terms that basically mean the same thing. You need to know how to use Business Marketing correctly in order to gain the benefits!

It is always easy to blame someone else, or another department when a marketing or pr campaign doesn’t generate the results. Marketing will blame PR. PR will blame Marketing, and if that isn’t enough, someone eventually will blame the outside services of a PR or Advertising Agency. Why, because no one really took the time to understand what the purpose of the Business Marketing Strategy is about. Or they decided not to develop a strong PR Marketing Strategy that should incorporate the publicity for a pr client.

What’s this all mean? It simply says, that all departments should work together. That includes the outside sources such as a PR Agency, or Advertising Agency. Whether you are considered a local organization like a Publicity Orange County company, or a national Public Relations Service company, you too need to make sure that your PR Clients are on track. And PR Clients need to make sure they are open and honest with their outside sources. If not, then it is time and money wasted.Business Marketing Strategies

As any pr client or pr agency, even the marketing people at your company, should subscribe to several business media to keep in touch with trends and events. One publication, BusienssToBusiness is a good read. They have short articles and have separated the issues into categories all relating to marketing strategies, as well as different business marketing tips.

Social Media for PR Clients

No longer do the words “social media” mean to go to a media party to meet the publishers, editors, reporters, writers from the press. It now describes how you work the Internet to gain maximum media exposure.

In order to maximize your social media on the Internet, you need to learn how to Optimize your social media. In case you are unfamiliar with the term social media, it is the posts that you have on your company blogs, podcasts and vlogs. It is how businesses are now making their customers aware of their products and services. PR clients need to include all forms of social media into their marketing and publicity plans.

Make sure you have someone at your company to be the coordinator of these social media activities. Or at least make sure your PR Agency provides this service.

Optimizing your social media is very similar to optimizing a web site. PR Clients who have a web site may already have this in place. But let me list a few points to help you keep your social media on track.

I came across a blogger who has done a good job in listing what he calls the 5 rules to optimize a social media site. When you visit his blog, you will notice that many other people added to his list. But for now, I will give you some of his choices, then you can check out what the other bloggers added.

For example, rule one is to “increase your linkability“. Having static links is ok, but he professes to use white papers and other content to help make the links non-static.

Second, make tagging and bookmarking easy. Include tagging within your own site that are to your popular pages. Use “add to” buttons that point to relevant sites.

Antother rule is to reward inbound links. Get good links with other bloggers, and other high ranked sites as inbound links. This will add to your sites credibility.

As I mentioned earlier, there are many other rules, or suggestions that can help your social media and your current business web site gain maximum exposure. If you are a PR Client, you just need to implement them. If you don’t have time, then hire an outside company that understands social media marketing, and as a pr client, you will soon see the rewards.

How to write newsletters

Everyone wants to be a writer, but the task of producing a company newsletter is something no one wants to undertake.

Is your company producing a quarterly, or monthly newsletter? Is it available on your web site? Do you feel writing a newsletter is a waste of time? Do you have anyone in the company that knows how to write a newsletter?

Don’t panic if you answered yes to one or more of these questions. How to write a newsletter is not a big deal, if you are a writer, or is it? Many of our PR Clients prefer we do their newsletters. Some PR clients have an in-house staff assigned to do their own, but still ask us to review and design the newsletter to make it appealing to their customers.

Newsletter writing

So what are the tips to writing a newsletter? You can go to a number of web sites like “How to write a Newsletter Toolkit“. But that means buying software then trying to learn what to do. Or go to another site called “101 Newsletter Answers“. But that can be a lot to review and learn. There is always Google if you do a search for writing newsletters.

Or you can read my tips and learn the fast and easy way. If that is too much, we do offer this service to clients. An example of a client’s newsletter is shown. Here are a few tips:

1- Keep the newsletter interesting with information, facts that YOUR customers, or potential customers would find interesting and have value.

2- Design. Have a clean, yet creative look that is not overpowering the information. Similar to a frame that makes a picture more attractive rather than a frame that is too bold and colorful taking away from the picture.

3- Give tips in the newsletter. Offer your customers tips to help them improve their business. It is always best to relate that to something you offer.

4- Give real examples. Tell a story, short, not long, of a situation how your company helped a customer improve their company with your service/product.

5- Assemble a series of these types of topics, and place them in a file for future newsletters. This makes writing the next one easier than trying to find something to write about.

6- Offer customers a reason to contact you. Maybe have a “special” for that quarter, or list your closeout products, etc. Be sure to have your contact information listed.

These are just a few simple tips to get you going. Remember, when you begin writing a newsletter for your company, it is important to keep it going. You will find customers, and potential customers looking for it when you do it right.

It is the effectiveness to develop a plan that will grow, or increase a company’s revenue. Simple, right?

Web Traffic, How To Get More

A lot of companies are offering solutions to increase web traffic, but which one is right for your company?

Today all companies need to have a web site presence. Not just a single page, but someting that is attractive, informative and entertaining. But that alone isn’t going to bring you customers. What you need to do is think about PR Marketing Strategies. Once your web site was built, you then were told; a) is it “optimized”?, b) do you have the right “keywords, key phrases“?, c) and did you place the right “titles” in your pages?, d) did you submit your site to the seo’s?

Those questions alone makes you wonder what to do next. Then you come across a bunch of other people saying that you need to “market” your web site. Especially if you build an eCommerce web site which needs marketing strategies that will increase web traffic.

So what are the answers to having a successful eCommerce, or traditional web site? This is not a single answer solution. You should have an on-going web marketing plan. It needs to consist of a solid PR marketing stratey that includes all of the above mentions items, keywords, keyphrases, titles, and most important, links to revelevant sites.

Incorporating PR marketing strategies can build your company’s image, increase awareness and above all increase traffic to your web site. Our company has been making great things happen for our clients since 1980. We understand what PR marketing strategies are about. We know that publicity is an important key to a successful campaign. And we belive that a “business blog site” is an important element to making your buisness a success.

Funny or Offended, you decide!

It seems that some people still think that only sex, or young women make ads more appealing, what do you think?

I read an article in 101PublicRelations.com that expressed the readers”shock” when he saw an auto ad for a Ford Mustang showing a father and son in a dark parking lot. Then it shows the son driving and pulling out fast, he peels out, then stops and the dad says, “That’s what I’m talking about. This is not a toy! Want to go again?”

The writer was concerned about moms who have had their children be hit by careless drivers, young, old, etc. Yes, I agree with this part that it might be harsh, but it is an ad for a Mustang that was designed to convey power and performance. Later the author says the best way to attract attention would have been to follow the “rules” that were once done as a study by a psychological and marketing group. This group profess that women (young and not too sexy) would have been a better choice. Or at least he is offering the study’s results that attractive mid 20’s women are good choices for ads to gain attention.

You can view the Mustang ad here and make your own decision.

Is it? I believe you can use many different images to get your point across. You don’t need to always use sex in an ad. Even though the study isn’t saying to be sexy, it does still in fact suggest it when it says to use young women.Building wealth

I like humor. It can convey what you want. It can be memorable, it can get people invloved and it is not offending. That is unless you make a offensive remark in your ad campaign. Just like the example shown, we created this ad to attract attention to the clients solution to building one’s wealth. It is memorable, non-offensive and informative.

So again I ask, would you be offended by that Mustang ad, or would you prefer a young woman only in the ad?

Choose Your Words Wisely For Web Sites

Writing for Publicity and Web Sites is different

Writing press releases and brochure textYes, this may seem obvious. Yet is it a common mistake all pr clients and writing professionals make. When you write a press release, or a web page the text should be written differently. After saying this, will you agree that writing for a brochure is also different than writing for a web site or web page?

Pr clients and professional agencies sometimes think writing is all the same and anyone can do it. Wrong! It takes a different style, and discipline of writing for brochures, ads, sales materials, press kits, articles and web pages, even blogs. Let me give you an example.

People who pick up a publication will probably read an entire article, especially if it is of interest. The same is true for a company brochure. When you open a web page about that same company, you will most likely pick up snippets of information, glance over images and subheads, just to get a brief understanding of the company.

That is why every word is important on a web site. Clients want to always “say” and "sell everything" on their site. "Tell the customer all they need to know", is what one client told me. Well, that won’t close the deal, nor get them interested in contacting you any further!

Always provide the reader the benefits of your product or service at the beginning of your text. Then move into how your company can improve or help them.

If you understand the habits of people when they use different materials to collect information, then you can become a better writer, and more than likely, you might just pick up another client.

Email Marketing and PR

Using this with publicity can stimulate more awareness

You can’t just ignore it, and it isn’t going to go away, it’s email marketing!

email marketing and publicityWe all get more than our share of junk mail and a lot of unnecessary mail that seems at times, overwhelming. But the true fact about email marketing is that it does work.

This may not sound to you like a way to attract customers, or build a publicity awareness campaign. But the facts are real, people do respond to and read their emails.

Ok, I am not saying to drop all your pr efforts or publicity campaign that is about to launch. I want to make pr clients and pr agencies realize there is a very large population that likes to read their email. And almost 100% of them have requested to be on that email list.  So it is time to grab that publicity campaign notebook, go through all the projects and see if email marketing is on that list. If not, consider adding email marketing for your pr clients, or your marketing campaigns that include publicity.

To help put this in some perspective, I saw an article that is titled "How to get the best ROI from your Email". The author gets to the point and shows that for every dollar spent on email, the return is $57.25. Unlike other mail programs where it is $22.52 return on every dollar.

This is a suggestion for those publicity savvy people, pr clients and professional pr agencies to realize they have another pr tool waiting to be implemented.

Google Flexes Its Muscle, Again

Search is getting more defined

The search engine battle continues as the leader, Google, unleashes another big step in maintaining its loyal users. This time it is with Google News Archives.

Last week Google launched a "timeline" functionality to help users see rankings by date of publication; some show dates going back to the 1800’s.

Google News ArchiveTo test this I tried using a term that is popular today, Business Skills. I found numerous searches that identified the names of different publications, the dates of the published articles, and in some cases, the names of books published with the cost. In all there were 593,000 results for this term. I then typed another phrase, lung cancer. Although the results were 210,000, I had the option to see articles published before 1950 through 2006. And the side bar lists various publications that have articles about this disease.

As with the many other Google search options, you can get an advanced search to choose exact phrases, or words to match your search. Google has a short explanation of how this new search works. This is part of how they describe this new service: “Users can search for events, people, ideas and see how they have been described over time. In addition to searching for the most relevant articles for their query, users can get an historical overview of the results by browsing an automatically created timeline.

This can be another powerful pr tool for publicity agencies, marketing professionals, and pr clients and even for students doing research for class projects/assignments.

Knowing that these and other resources are available, can help publicity companies extend their pr clients awareness and build a file of data for future uses.
